The future of Artificial Intelligence and the implications for Materials Science workshop

Comisión Europea

The development, production and use of new materials is one of the most economically, socially and environmentally important fields of science and innovation. It is also a field of science where AI is having significant effects on progress. The European Commission's Directorate-General for Research & Innovation, and the OECD's Directorate for Science Technology and Innovation are jointly organising a workshop on the impact of advances in AI on the future of materials science.

This virtual one-day workshop will offer insights into:

  • AI's current and possible future impacts in areas ranging from computational design of new materials to autonomous lab systems
  • key recent breakthroughs
  • what AI can't yet do
  • where progress is most needed, how to generate real-world impact at scale from advances in the science
  • and, key enabling policies and infrastructures

Attention will likewise be given to the merits of establishing moonshots around critical materials.

Join us and hear from leading experts from academia, industry and policymaking. Register now to follow the discussions of key issues shaping tomorrow's science and technology landscape.
